Various parts of a human body are host to many species of microorganisms, mainly consisting of fungi and bacteria. Although the human body is protected by skin as the largest organ in human body at the outermost layer, but some pathogenic microorganisms may infect on the skin. Infestation by pathogenic microorganisms may cause urinary tract infection (UTI) such as Candida albicans 10231, Enterococcus faecalis 19433, Escherichia coli 8739, Klebsiella pneumoniae 13883 and Proteus vulgaris 33420. In this research, the effects of anti urinary tract infection related pathogenic microorganism from natural wood vinegar extract were studied. The Time-kill kinetics assay was used to study of an antimicrobial agent against a bacterial strain and can determine the bactericidal or bacteriostatic activity of an agent over time. A series of variety concentration (0- 24%) of natural wood vinegar extract was tested. Each strain’s bacteria growth was quantified after 6 minutes incubation at 37oC. From the observation of antimicrobial testing showed that the natural wood vinegar extract positively affects the growth rate of different concentration to variety of bacteria strain. The results of this work provide strong evidence of the importance of natural wood vinegar extract in antimicrobial especially in urinary tract infection as natural active ingredient in wellness industries.
