Malaysia is tropical rainforest country and rich in forestry resources, the production of charcoal be one of major production in this country. In production of charcoal, many of steam will be produced as by-product. Those steams under condensation process will form brown yellow liquid which composed three major layer liquid forms (Bio oil, wood vinegar and sediment). Natural pyroligneous acid is a by-product from charcoal making process. This thick dark brown natural liquid consists of more than 200 compounds such as syringol, benzoic acid, maltol, catechol, vanillin and variety of organic compound. In this research, eight strains with two categories: Beneficial microorganism (L. acidophilus 4356, L. sakei 15521 and L. gassei 19992) and harmful microorganism (Candida albicans 10231, Enterococcus faecalis 19433, Escherichia coli 8739, Klebsiella pneumoniae 13883 and Proteus vulgaris 33420) were selected. The time kill kinetics assay method was chose to investigate the relationship between concentration and active time of natural pyroligneous acid with beneficial and harmful microorganism. All strain was tested for (0 – 240 minutes) under different concentration (0 – 24%). It was observed that the synergistic factor of anti-microorganism effect to natural pyroligneous acid. The result showed that positively synergistic factor of natural pyroligneous acid which related urinary tract infection caused between concentration and active time. The results of this research provide strong anti-microorganism effect of this potential natural active ingredient in optimum combination of concentration and active time.
