Traditional heterogeneous catalysts consist of materials with nano-sized features developed predominantly by trial-and-error methods. Current methods in nanoscience can yield substantially more efficient catalyst development for existing and new applications. This session invites theoretical and experimental reports of designing and synthesizing novel catalytic materials as well as applications of novel materials. Abstracts that primarily focus on catalyst characterization (ex situ, in situ, operando, etc.) are additionally welcome. This session encompasses synthesis and characterization oriented sessions that the CRE division has historically offered, such as Rational Catalyst Design, Atomically Dispersed Metal Catalysts, Novel Nanostructured Materials, and In-Situ and Operando Spectroscopy.
