Excerpts will be taken from this open access paper published in Powder Technology (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.powtec.2023.118279) as personal examples for how to overcome professional barriers along the way as you pursue your endeavors. The path from laboratory curiosities to commercial powder processing plants had many obstacles to overcome. The manner in which this was done can be applied to everyday life - be it obtaining a M.S. or Ph.D., pursuing a career afterwards, or simply living your life to the fullest in a very challenging world. PTF provides for an incredible opportunity to network with all kinds of people and is by far the most academic/industry integrated organization that I am aware of. Many “forks in the road” opportunities are available from being an active participant in PTF; so, I encourage you to be an active participant in this fantastic organization.
