The Membrane Science, Engineering and Technology (MAST) Center is a 4 campus National Science Foundation (NSF) Industry and University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC). The Center was founded in 2010. However since 1990, there has been a Center in the IUCRC Program focused on membrane science. The presentation will highlight the role played by Prof Rich Noble in establishing the initial center in 1990 known as the Center for Separations Using Thin Films. In 2000 he established a new Center within the IUCRC Program called the Membrane Applied Science and Technology Center. He was instrumental in establishing the current MAST Center.
