Rheology plays a crucial role in various aspects of coatings such as their synthesis, formulation, application, and performance assessment including their appearance, sag, and color, among other factors. In this talk, I will take you on a journey through my experiences in the coating industry as a polymer physicist. I will discuss several case studies demonstrating how we can leverage rheology to discover new design principles, provide formulation and application recommendations to accelerate product development, enhance operational efficiency, capture intellectual properties, and ultimately drive growth across various business units. Additionally, I will share my efforts to integrate new rheological capabilities, foster subject matter expertise, and facilitate academic collaborations to amplify the impact of rheology in our organization.
