Bottlebrush block copolymers are a promising material platform for a variety of applications that require chemically distinct domains. However, access to a well-defined, precise structure is a challenge. Without such precision, variations in mechanical and self-assembly properties are inherent. In this talk, I will discuss the synthesis of fully discrete (Đ = 1.0) homo- and di-block bottlebrush (co)polymers. Such precision is exploited to control thermomechanical properties, microphase separation, and brush interaction at an interface. Furthermore, we show the effect of discrete bottlebrush ligands in stabilizing nanoparticles. This work highlights the potential of fully discrete homo- and di-block bottlebrush structures as a model system for understanding the structure-property relationship of complex branched materials in bulk and solution.
