(33e) Modeling and Control of Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing

This presentation describes progress in the modeling and control of the manufacturing of biotherapeutics. The research needs and challenges are described for a variety of biotherapeutic products. Recent advances are described that employ mechanistic modeling of intracellular processes to design optimization-based systems that increase productivity and improve the control of product quality attributes. The activities are moving towards fully automated systems for process design, operations, and control.
