With batteries gradually being the essential power sources for consumer electronic devices, portable power tools, electric vehicles, and so on, the demand for high performance batteries with higher energy density, quicker charging time and better safety performance, becomes urgent. There are many particle processing technologies involved in battery manufacturing, such as particle size reduction, particle surface modification, powder mixing, et al. , which knowingly impact final battery performance. Here, the significance of the influence of particle size and surface chemistry on the electrochemical performances of cathode, anode and electrolyte materials in literatures is reviewed.
