(5a) Becoming an Assistant Professor

In this session, I will discuss my journey in obtaining a tenure-track position. I will share my experiences as a postdoc, the impact of COVID, the application process, and the benefits of participating in AIChE-sponsored programs such as the Meet the Faculty Candidates Poster Session, Future Faculty Mentoring Program, and Summer School for Engineering Faculty. I will discuss the transition in responsibilities and expectations from postdoc to a new assistant professor as well as the transition from degrees in chemical engineering to research in biomedical engineering.
