In this work, the benefits of performing counter-current over co-current regeneration are demonstrated on a Partial Pressure Swing Adsorptive Reactor (PPSAR) Process with application to the Water Gas Shift reaction (WGS). Our previously introduced dynamic, multidomain, multiscale model is used to compare two theoretical case studies employing co-current and counter-current regeneration, respectively. The process conditions for the counter and co-current regeneration cases remain identical apart from the employed regeneration method. This allows for the elucidation of the significant process performance benefits arising solely from an adaptation of the employed regeneration mode.
