Recent studies present smart monitoring programs to increase the mobility of the 3D printing technology. These monitoring systems is costly to implement in a multiple printers in a factory-level facility. To cope with it, a smart monitoring system enabled by edge devices were developed using LabVIEW program for multiple FDM printers operating inside the 3D printing factory. Edge devices were utilized to collect the data from the group of sensors connected to each individual 3D printer and to control the light modules that indicate the fabrication status. From there, these data were transmitted to the cloud server where it stores and exchanges the information with other edge devices and the main host server. This information is accessed by the main server to process these data in a machine learning scheme where it produces a set of forecast values of the data. Hence, this information can be used for threshold classification to predict and inform the engineers when there is an error during the printing process.
