Catalysts play the important role in the precise preparation of important Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) with high efficiency and low waste pollution. Current catalytic system often have drawbacks like low activity, poor selectivity, and poor stability and reusability. Considering the high activity, selectivity, modifiability and adjustability of well-defined homogeneous catalysts as well as taking advantage of the large surface area, high porosity and low density of porous materials, a series of porous organometallic materials have been designed and prepared via hyper-crossing and ligand-assisted pyrolysis strategies. The morphology, structure, composition and properties of these porous materials were characterized by various analytical methods. The performance of these solid catalysts were investigated in hydrogenation, oxidation, reductive amination and formylation reactions for API synthesis, and the structure-activity relationship, reaction mechanism were deeply studied via in-situ FT-IR, NMR, XPS, XAS and so on. The catalytic materials exhibited superior activity than homogeneous precuesors and the record turnover number (TON) of 1581588 could be achieved in the formylation reaction with CO2. A series of control experiments as well as in-situ characterizations had demonstrated the high efficiency of these materials originated from the isolation effect, confinement effect, which could prevented the homogeneous precursors from agglomeration. Furthermore, the solid catalysts could be reused up to dozens of times, highlighting their practical potential in pharmaceutical industry.
