Continuous manufacturing is often leveraged in the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and intermediates to enable process intensification, cycle-time reduction, or hazard mitigation. The Flexible API Supply Technology (FAST) group is an engineering focused team that develops continuous manufacturing technology platforms in parallel with assessing the viability of and carrying out continuous processes for portfolio projects in Pfizer’s pipeline alongside our process chemistry partners. We present the development of a continuous process along with the application of various automated platforms for reaction optimization in flow applying the use of dynamic/transient flow strategies for ramping residence times and reagent equivalents.
