Causes of Hydrate Blockage
AIChE SPE Joint Workshops
2011
The 6th AIChE/SPE Joint Workshop (2011)
General Program
Session One: Identifying and Eliminating Flow Blockage I - Hydrates
Tuesday, September 27, 2011 - 8:40am to 10:10am
Hydrate blockages occur by different mechanisms depending on system architecture, flow regimes and compositions. The most commonly observed mechanisms will be described, including jamming, agglomeration, slurry viscosification, bedding and film growth. Published methods useful for observing each mechanism will be discussed. Prevention of hydrate blockages of these types will also be discussed.
