LedaFlow-Q3D is a new multi-D transient flow simulator developed by SINTEF, ConocoPhillips, and TOTAL with an ambition to provide a step change in multi-D modeling technology for simulation and analysis of complex multiphase flow in pipelines with good accuracy and speed.
In this study, LedaFlow-Q3D is employed for the modeling of two-phase gas-liquid slug flow in horizontal and inclined pipes as well as vertical risers. Results from the calculations show that the LedaFlow-Q3D modeling technique is capable of capturing the dynamics of slug flow and can predict the flow regime, slug frequency and velocity quite well.
