This paper presents an evaluation of NOVA Chemicals and Kubota's ANK 400 anticoking technology. As a follow-up to the paper from AICHE in 2002, data from a variety of furnaces types will be presented, indicating the flexibility and long-term robustness of ANK 400. Continuing improvements in the anticoking technology provides exceptional performance in the ethylene cracking industry. The improvements allow applications to higher temperatures, which provides greater flexibility in the operation of the furnace. Characterization of this latest generation of ANK technology will be presented in context to performance data as well as lab scale evaluations of the improved technology.
