Many technologically sound and economically justified ideas for plant improvement fail during plant testing because of poor preparation. This talk presents a method for organizing and executing plant tests. This method includes: project background, project value, plant test scope, plant test duration, plant test value, plant test cost, plant test risk to operation, plant test risk to production, plant test safety issues, plant test environmental issues, areas of responsibility, and information transfer. Examples of successful plant tests using this method will also be presented and discussed.
