A discussion of the porosity influence on the tensile strength of cohesive powders is given. Two models relating the tensile strength to microscopic parameters and porosity are reconsidered. Furthermore, experimental and DEM-simulation results are presented and compared to those models. In the simulations, the influence of friction the powder's tensile strength is analysed. A new, exponential relationship between the tensile strength and the powder's porosity is found, which also describes previous experimental data from the literature.
