This research project studies the hydrodynamics of pure biomass and mutli-solids systems in a 0.28m-ID plexiglass circulating fluidized bed. the minimum transport velocity, voidage distribution, and velocity distribution under different operating conditions are examed. The performance of a 1000kw CFBG for power generation, in operation in jiedong city, Guangdong province, china, with a diameter of 2.0m and a height of 8.5m, are analyzed. the operation temperature (or the air-to-fuel ratios )is found to have strong impact on gasification efficiency, conversion of carbon, gas productivity, and gas composition. About 60-72%gasification efficiency and 71-85%conversion can be achieved when the temperature is about 700-830°C, corresponding to ER equal to 0.21-0.26.
