Thursday, April 27, 2006 - 8:00am to 8:20am
The energetic materials community is addressing challenges in the area of particle size to improve performance, improve ability to process materials in formulations and, most importantly, improve safety/sensitivity of both the raw materials and formulations. Many investigators in the energetics community have demonstrated that particle size influences performance of energetic formulations and contributes to both neat material and formulation sensitivity to stimuli including impact, friction, static discharge, and heat. This presentation will focus on existing efforts to control and monitor particle size during synthesis and crystallization.
