Hydrogen
Hydrogen Topical Plenary
Monday, April 24, 2006 - 1:35pm to 2:05pm
Hydrogen addresses the root cause of energy dependence and greenhouse gas emissions. The Hydrogen Fuel Initiative is conducting a comprehensive research program to develop the scientific underpinnings for the hydrogen economy.
Significant challenges will be discussed: ? materials with increased hydrogen storage capacity, ? lower cost fuel cell materials with improved durability, and ? lower cost of delivered hydrogen.
?Well-to-Wheels? analyses that quantify energy use, greenhouse gas emissions and cost of hydrogen delivered will be presented for several pathways.
DOE, with energy companies and automobile manufacturers are learning by conducting system demonstrations under ?real world? operating conditions.
Recent policy developments and R&D accomplishments are discussed.
