The AFCEE Technology Transfer Outreach Office developed Restoration PBM Draft Guidance that was successfully tested at DoD sites. PBM restoration incorporates, in its framework, well recognized and accepted business practices and value engineering techniques such as streamlined or accelerated site characterization (i.e, Triad), Remedial Process Optimization (RPO), development of a definitive exit strategy based on attainable Applicable or Relevant and Appropriate Requirements (ARARs), and risk management based on future land use. PBM also promotes performance-based restoration, including munitions and low-level radiological waste, by procuring services through performance-based contracts.
This presentation will provide an overview of PBM and case studies where PBM has been implemented.
