Reaction between tetramethylammonium fluoride (CH3)4NF and ReCl4(Py)(PPh3) in 1:1 molar ratio in the minimum amount of dry acetonitrile gives Tetra methyl ammonium tetra chloro(pyridine)-(triphenyl phosphin)-flouro rheniumate(IV) , [N(CH3)4][ReCl4(Py)(PPh3)F] in high yields. This research shows that six coordination rhenium can be reacted with TMAF and increasing their coordination numbers. The compound has been characterized by UV/VIS, 1H.NMR,19F.NMR and IR spectral studies.
