In order to comply with the Natural Gas industry's requirements for minimizing life cycle costs, many Pipeline Gas Heaters have been proposed and developed. However, the constraints in the selection of a gas heater are often site-specific environmental issues and thermal efficiency issues, especially for the planned North American pipelines. Without proper attention to these site-specific issues a project can be seriously delayed or its realization may even be jeopardized. In recent years, the concern to minimize the environmental impact of the energy industry has increased dramatically. This trend results in tighter air emissions control and includes minimizing emissions from pipeline gas heaters. This paper discusses newly developed advanced design of Pipeline Gas Heaters that both reduce NOX and CO emissions and increase thermal efficiency. This paper also presents the economical advantages of the advanced Pipeline Gas Heaters in comparison to conventional gas heaters.
