(129a) An Overview of Microtechnology in Process Analytics

Process Analytics has been migrating toward greater use of micro technology for some time to improve the performance of on-line instrumentation. This presentation will describe how the advantages of the approach impact the ability to use process instrumentation in on-line applications. It will then focus on how the instrumentation changes have enabled process analytics to be used for advantage in the characterization of microscale processes. The description will span the range of applications from lab scale to production scale and how the technology aids the transition. Finally, the presentation will describe the efforts being made in the field to educate others in the use of the technology.
