(42c) The Case for Computer Based Training: Making Ips Training Less Painful

Training is an important part of the ISA84.00.01-2004 requirements to ensure the people designing, maintaining, and operating Safety Instrumented Systems are competent and the standard is being consistently applied through out the Company. As a user of the standard, Solutia has implemented training using several different training methods. Solutia has developed a set of Computer Based Training presentations to provide initial introductory training and also serve as refresher training. This paper will discuss the objectives of the Computer Based Training, the development process, and the effectiveness of these techniques.
