Dynamic Simulation offers a promising technique for checking new startup procedures before they are used in real-life situations. By simulating the start-up process in a computer model in advance of starting up the unit in the plant, operations personnel can anticipate the potential for problems and incidents. This paper will discuss how Dynamic Simulation was used to achieve this objective on behalf of a major chemical producer in Texas.
