Biomass is the third largest source of energy for human being, and is also a renewable resource. High effective utilization and development of biomass energy has positive effects on solving energy and environment problems. Biomass contains 38%~50% cellulose. In this work, we prepared new kind of catalysts for the conversion of high-pure cellulose. The liquefaction of high-pure cellulose was carried out in a stainless autoclave, distilled water as liquefaction solvent, ClO4-/ Fe2O3- ZrO2 -La2O3 or ClO4-/Fe2O3 as catalyst. The results of liquefaction process showed that the ClO4-/ Fe2O3- ZrO2 -La2O3 catalyst has higher activity than ClO4-/Fe2O3. For example, under the reaction condition of 523 K, 3h, using ClO4-/ Fe2O3- ZrO2 -La2O3 as catalyst, the resident of high-pure cellulose was about 9.8%, but ClO4-/Fe2O3 was about 22.1%. In this test, the effect of the amount of the catalyst, reaction temperature and reaction time on the catalyst activity for the biomass conversion were investigated.
