(20d) Ecofining Process Overview

The EcofiningTM process, jointly developed by UOP and ENI, converts vegetable oil, grease, tallow and algae oil to paraffins at mild conditions yielding an excellent diesel blending stock. This new process, utilizes decarboxylation, hydrodeoxygenation and hydroisomerization reactions to produce a high quality diesel fuel from bio-oils plus hydrogen at mild conditions. The EcofiningTM process is currently offered for licensing and two EcofiningTM process units are in construction with expected start-up in 2009.

The talk will include data on the following:

1 Yields and effect of alternative feeds

2 Green diesel product properties and blending synergisms

3 Life cycle analysis

4 Economics and capital costs
