We wish to present an efficient gas-liquid-solid reduction and oxidation systems by micro-packed bed reactor. The reactor consisted of a column, 1 mm in diameter and 5-25 cm in length, in which heterogeneous catalysts containing palladium were packed firmly. The substrate solution was mixed with either hydrogen gas or oxygen gas at the T-shaped mixer just before the inlet of the column. The liquid-gas mixture traveled through the tiny pathways in the column with elevated pressure up to 2.5 MPa, giving rise to efficient reduction or oxidation reactions of organic molecules. When acetophenone derivatives and hydrogen gas were passed through the flow reactor, efficient hydrogenation took place and corresponding alcohol or fully reduced ethylbenzene derivative were obtained almost quantitatively. On the other hand, efficient oxidation took place when benzylalcohol and oxygen gas were passed through the flow reactor, and depending on the flow conditions, either benzaldehyde or benzoic acid were obtained selectively.
