In this work, a new micro-dispersion reactor named micro-pore dispersion capillary reactor was designed for the first time to measure the reaction heat. The novel micro-dispersion reactor device comprised of a micro-pore dispersion channel and a capillary followed. With the advantages of microstructed reactor, such as safety, less reactant consumption and high selectivity, the measurement could be easily conducted. A data acquisition system was integrated with the reactor to collect the temperatures online, and the temperature difference between the reaction inlet and outlet at thermal isolation conditions was collected. The pre-mixing reaction, SINA Viscosa process was selected as the model system. Oleum was used as one reactant and cyclohexanecarboxylic acid diluted by n-hexane was used as the other. The reaction was started in the dispersion channel in which the reactants were pumped and achieved in the capillary. As a fast reaction with sulfonated consecutive by-product, high selectivity has been obtained in this microstructured reactor, thus the reliable results for reaction heat was obtained.
