Pressure, flow controllability, and stability in high pressure gas pipeline networks should be analyzed when new pipelines with pressure control valves are connected to an existing pipeline network system. The process interaction between an existing pipeline network system and a new pipeline is studied before it is connected to the existing pipeline system, and the optimum control parameters are re-calculated to give a stable operation. Previously, the existing pipeline system had a problem in terms of controllability when a new pipeline with a pressure control valve was connected to it. Presently, the pressure control valve in the pipeline at the Kitano valve station and the pressure control valve in another pipeline at the Sodegaura valve station interact with each other. Changes to one valve noticeably affect the network The controllability of pressure and flow on the pipeline network system will become more complicated when the new pipeline is connected to the existing pipeline system at the end of 2008. Therefore adequate PID control parameters of pressure are needed to operate the high pressure gas pipeline with stability. We studied the controllability of pressure and flow of the entire high pressure pipeline system by using a dynamic simulation model. Herein, the dynamic process model was made by using the process simulator ?CHEMCAD?, and PID parameters were calculated by using the internal model control (IMC) algorithm method. The attached figure shows the flow chart of process analysis on this system.
