Process Safety – From the Top-Down and Bottom-up
Tuesday, April 28, 2009 - 4:00pm to 4:30pm
Mr. Tom Archibald, Vice-President and Director of Operations at Rohm and Haas Company will highlight what information executives need, expect, and prefer from process safety professionals and from managers for decision making and resource allocation to address process safety and process risk issues. He will also provide guidance on how that information can best be conveyed to upper management and executives within an organization.
Topics addressed will be based upon his experiences and may include: what keeps executives "awake at night", what is needed to make critical decisions, what are key components of the information needed, what level of detail may be required and how it can best be presented, what is included in a winning "pitch" to executives, use of financial information, and dealing with process safety and risk in a cyclical economy.
Case studies may be used to demonstrate process safety or risk decision examples - "positive" ones where the analysis and decision process went well, and "negative" ones where things went awry - and what can be learned in each case.
