(69e) U.S. Department of Energy's Industrial Technologies Program: Assessments, Tools And Training

Authors

Evans, J. - Presenter, US Department of Energy

DOE's Industrial Technologies Program offers an assortment of technical tools & training in addition to energy assessments for all sizes of facilities. DOE has performed over 1900 energy assessments for US industrial plants over the past three years. The largest 500 facilities that received assessments found over $850 million in energy savings with $125 million of the saving having already been implemented to date. The assessments also serve as hands-on demonstration training for plant staff on using DOE's software tools to identify energy projects. Many many more energy projects are being planned based on plant staff doing their own analysis using the free DOE software tools. DOE also has an on-going training program that provides one & two-day training classes on the software tools. All these resources are provided at little or no cost to companies. This presentation will focus on lessons learned through the assessments for the chemical industry, the software tools available, training opportunities, & how to apply for assessments.
