The Acetylene Hydrogenation Tutorial will focus upon the theme of addressing the experience and know-how for operating acetylene hydrogenation systems. Thus, the intent of the Tutorial is to convey the essentials and insights that an Operator should know and understand for successful acetylene converter operation. The Tutorial will review the various acetylene convertor system process flow schemes; describe the process chemistry involved; and discuss reactor operating conditions, parameters of control, system performance monitoring requirements, catalyst regeneration and activation, very important points about safe operation, and considerations for start-up and shutdown. The lectures for the Tutorial will be given by Edgar Mohundro, Ricardo (Rick) Callejas and Richard Voight, independent technical consultants for the catalysts, processes, and operations of acetylene hydrogenation units.
