In many large corporations, a generational crisis is brewing. From the early 1990's to the mid-2000's, many large corporations did not recruit new hires. Those companies are now living with the result of that decision: no buffer exists between the 21 to 35 year olds and the 50 to 65 year olds. A "generation gap" exists in these companies. There is no 36 to 50 year old buffer in these corporations. In other words, the older generation is working with its kids' generation. To fill the management gap created by their non-hiring decision, corporations are accelerating the promotion of the 21 to 35 generation. That generation now finds themselves managing their parents' generation. If the former work environment could be less than pretty, the latter work environment can be downright ugly. This presentation discusses both work environments and outlines ways of alleviating the tension created by each situation.
