Large power demands of large world scale LNG liquefaction plants have created the need for a careful structured approach in selecting power generation facilities. With a focus on high efficiency, it is becoming increasingly popular to integrate process heat recovery and power generation facilities. This paper will cover a structured approach to integrated process/ power management, including optimal sizing of gas turbine generators, configurations including cogeneration, and utilization of the electrical infrastructure.
The paper will focus on process - heat and electrical system inegration and cover a treatment of transient events from the process side. Multiple process configurations will be covered including needs that are now common to LNG liquefaction plants such as dom gas requirements, condensate LPG, and the use of process expanders and flashing liquid expanders which tie into the electrical system.
