The cost of clean water plays a large role in any facilities budget, and with tightening discharge standards and increasing water costs, will continue to do so.

Filtra-Systems STiR media filter is the third generation of our proven technology, which builds upon 400+ successful installations. Based on this filters historical success removing contaminants, and third generation cost reductions, a US Aluminum mill completed a 9-month pilot study on 3 distinctly different water streams.

Contaminant level data for the stream will be presented, along with the corresponding removal efficiency (90%+), at the optimized filter flux rate (3-10 gpm/ft2), to meet the customers required clean water discharge, and clean water reuse standards.

Validation of the kinetic model, utilized for optimal backwash, will be proved, with emphasis on the implementation of the sustainable, green media and its regeneration philosophy.

In the future, end users will consider not only maintaining a low level of contaminants in their plant discharge waters, but explore expanded methods to conserve water through reuse. Selecting a filtration product that minimizes waste generation, and does not use ?throw away? elements or mined media is crucial to the sustainability of the world we share.
