Resent researches during the last three decades showed that the application of natural products have increased with more intensity. A valuable service would therefore be to find materials alternative as fibers to enhanced physic-mechanical properties of cementitious matrices. In this work was evaluated the capability of Arumã vegetable fiber with possibilities to reinforce cementitious matrix. The Arumã (Ischnosiphon polyphyllus), is found in the Amazon biome. These fibers are widely used by the tradition people of the Northern Region in handicrafts and construction. The objective this work was studied the behavior physic-mechanical of the reinforcement of cementitious matrix from Arumã fibers, ciment, metacaulinita and sand. We find that the values of some properties as strength, modulus of elasticity and traction in the cementitious matrix made were compatible with the values of literature and commercial standards. The results showed to highlight potential that exist in this fiber for developing of cementitious matrix
