(22c) A Look Into Advanced Controls for Automotive Engines

Authors

Matthews, A. - Presenter, University of Wisconsin-Madison

This presentation features an in-depth look at engine controls for gasoline, diesel, and hybrid drivetrains.  The most important control tasks are then identified and their implications on engine performance are analyzed.  Examples are given showing driver input and controller output sensitive to environmental conditions.  There are also examples of advanced hardware configurations with a brief list of pros/cons for each.  The most important control tasks are then identified and their implications on engine performance are analyzed.  The presentation also discusses emissions testing procedures for transient and stationary engines.
