Abstract:

I have discovered a new porous ceramic material; now what?
My company is looking for a new gas phase separation membrane; where do I start?
I am considering starting a company with a University technology; what are the
next steps? University researchers, business development managers, entrepreneurs
and others often have questions regarding technology transfer. From the nascent
stages of a cutting edge invention to licensing patents that are in the
twilight years of their term, the website for a technology transfer office is
often the first point of entry for those seeking answers to their questions.

The WARF website offers a variety of information to seekers
from these three groups and others. In addition to our mission, history, facts,
and contact information ? the website provides: inventors with information
about disclosing their inventions and the patent process; potential licensees
with available technologies and agreement templates; and entrepreneurs with documentation
and resources for starting a company. The author will discuss how an effective
website can help a technology transfer office better serve its respective
university by facilitating the flow of information.
