With support from the U.S. Department Of Energy, the Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels (RSB) will be holding an hour-long session to primarily discuss its biofuels certification program. The RSB is an international standard for sustainable biofuels production developed through a multi-stakeholder process involving social and environmental NGOs, government agencies, inter-governmental organizations, and private companies involved in biomass and biofuel production. After nearly four years of work, the RSB will release its standard for public use in 2011, allowing biofuel companies who comply with the RSB's sustainability requirements to be recognized for their good practices through a third party certification audit. In addition to giving an overview of the certification program, a representative of the RSB will speak with participants about how their companies can seek certification for sustainable biomass and biofuel projects. The RSB will also showcase some of its recently released tools, such as the online sustainability tool and greenhouse gas calculator.
