Climate change caused by carbon dioxide emissions and other greenhouse gases is altering the planet's environment and atmosphere. Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is considered to be a promising set of technologies that can reduce CO2 levels significantly. In this study, a process model for CO2 capture and compression for a coal-fired power plant using amine solvent is developed and validated using data from a testbed in Boryeong Power Plant in South Korea, and the regenration heat using independently developed amine solvent is compared with that of the conventional amine solvent. Also the combined process alternatives for CO2 capture and compression are studied to reduce the regeneration energy.
