Technology and Process Options to Achieve Energy Efficiency
Thursday, April 5, 2012 - 9:15am to 9:40am
Three double-effect (or heat integrated) distillation systems for organosilicon monomers were developed through process simulation targeting energy conservation of this unit, which normally occupies 60~70% of the whole monomer plant. To show the extent of energy saving, 3 traditional schemes, as controls, were also calculated. Results of this work demonstrate an energy cutting down, by a large margin, of approximately 50%, as well as the same portion of recycling cooling water reduction. The higher temperature, obtained through heat coupling, makes air cooling feasible even for plant located in semi tropics, which also contributes to reduce cooling water recirculation.
