CO2 Conversion
Monday, April 2, 2012 - 2:00pm to 2:30pm
Emission of green house gas CO2 has caught the attention of people in most recent years. Conversion of CO2 to other products has been proposed by many scientists to reduce the CO2 emission to atmosphere. However, there is a big challenge for the CO2 conversion to any product: large amount of energy or hydrogen will be used during CO2 conversion. In this paper, thermodynamics and energy efficiency will be analyzed for CO2 conversion reactions. Life cycle CO2 emission will also be analyzed. The objective of the paper is to identify the opportunities of CO2 conversion that can actually reduce CO2 emission in a life cycle of the whole process, which includes energy and hydrogen production.
