In this article, at first various critical aspects of the global warming problem have been discussed. Based on the published information, the present state of global warming and its future projections have been stated. Its devastating effects on ecological, natural and social parameters in different parts of the world as already being experienced and what is going to happen in the next few decades have been described. There is now common consensus among the scientists of the world regarding the causes of global warming. Based on this common ground, extensive research and development work including field studies and semi-commercial trials are being carried out in both developed and developing countries of the world. Taking into consideration the reliable and authenticated data reported of these schemes in different publications, a strategy has been developed for solving the global warming problem. The solutions proposed are based on technically proven processes so that these could be implemented immediately with the objective that green house gas (GHG) concentration in the atmosphere tapers off by the year 2020 and thereafter decreases rapidly; which is the guideline laid down in the last international conference on global warming held in Copenhagen. The suggested solutions do not have any adverse effect on food crop production or on any other social or ecological parameters.  On the other hand these would have synergic effect of GHG reduction in atmosphere and at the same time providing economic benefits to the communities where these process are implemented. To provide financial incentives for implementation of these schemes, it is proposed that self-sustaining funds consisting of ‘carbon credit’ and ‘carbon penalty, should be developed.
