Litigation Perspectives for Chemical Engineers

Chemical engineers, by choice or chance, often become involved in litigation proceedings. Experience with various environmental and product liability litigation leads to lessons on how to be aware of litigation issues and better prepare for the experience. This session will cover concepts such as economic benefit, allocation of costs, quantification of costs under uncertainty, cost causation, disclosure, and risk assessment issues. In addition, general tips such as standards, documentation and communications will be discussed.
