Hydrogen from natural gas maximizes the liquid fuel yield from thermochemical biofuel production pathways.  This produces the greatest net fossil CO2 reduction compared with biomass produced hydrogen and renewable wind and solar based hydrogen production.  This also appears to result in the lowest overall cost per unit of liquid fuel produced.
