There are many important benefits of revamping, rerating and modernizing turbomachinery such as accommodating changes in current operating conditions, improving operating efficiency, and removing process bottlenecks.
This paper will focus on the capacity gains realized through equipment replacement as well as the cost savings associated with footprint matching of the new equipment to the existing foundation and nozzle arrangements. The paper will also explore capacity gains associated with parallel train configurations.
Several case studies will be provided to highlight the OEM’s experience with high efficiency improvements using high boss ratio/short span impellers and data on footprint replacements for compressors will be provided to show improvements in efficiency and rotor stability.
